Social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, is scheduled to appear before the Nigerian House of Representatives on Monday in connection with serious bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The controversy erupted after VeryDarkMan released an audio recording in which crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, allegedly claimed to have bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to dismiss a money laundering case against him. In the same recording, Bobrisky allegedly stated that he evaded serving a six-month jail term at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos, thanks to the intervention of his godfather, who reportedly arranged for him to stay in a private lodge instead of prison.
In response to these explosive claims, the House of Representatives has summoned VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky, and EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede to appear before a special investigative panel. The inquiry will examine the integrity of the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in relation to the allegations.
VeryDarkMan’s legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed his client’s forthcoming appearance before the National Assembly, stating that they are ready to assist in unraveling the truth behind the scandal.
Adeyanju shared on social media, “We will be at the National Assembly tomorrow with our client @thatverydarkman to assist in investigations into allegations by Bobrisky that he/she paid N15m to have money laundering charges dropped by EFCC and also bribed prison officials to stay in an apartment.”
The investigation has drawn significant public attention, as it involves high-profile figures and serious accusations against Nigeria’s foremost anti-corruption and correctional agencies. The National Assembly is expected to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding Bobrisky’s alleged bribery, with the aim of restoring confidence in the nation’s law enforcement institutions.
All eyes are now on the outcome of Monday’s session, as Nigerians await clarity on the allegations and potential repercussions for those involved.
