Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has again contracted coronavirus.
This was confirmed in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase, in Makurdi.
According to the statement, the governor admitted that though he tested negative for COVID-19 on December 14, 2020, some of his close aides, however, tested positive.
He said this necessitated him to proceed into isolation as the NCDC protocol demands.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Executive Council has announced a total ban on public gathering as it observed that more people have tested positive for COVID-19.
Briefing reporters at the end of the State Executive Council meeting, Commissioner for Information, Ngunan Addingi, said a gathering of over 50 people would no longer be allowed.
She also warned that the government would henceforth enforce the law against the people violating COVID-19 preventive protocols in the state.
