Benue Bloodbath: Police Nab 28 Behind Yelewata Killings

The arrest of 28 suspects linked to the Yelewata killings has marked a swift response to President Bola Tinubu’s recent order during his visit to Benue State.

At a press briefing on the 24th of June, 2025, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, confirmed the arrests and said more suspects were still being tracked.

According to Egbetokun, the police are cracking down on the circulation of illegal firearms, many of which were used in the attacks.

He assured the public that the force remains fully capable of handling the situation.

The police also plan to arraign the 28 arrested suspects, along with 22 others detained in Jos over the murder of nine wedding guests headed to Quanpan.
