Senator-elect for Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Mr Moses Cleopas, says his winning the Senate seat is still like a dream to him.
Cleopas, the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, spoke when he led the Campaign Council of the Central Senatorial District under the leadership of the Director General, Chief Dikivie Oboh, on a solidarity visit to former governor Seriake Dickson, who is also the Senator-elect for Bayelsa West.
He described the former governor as his ‘master, mentor, leader, principal, and father’, saying that Dickson showed him an unimaginable dimension of love, mentoring and quality leadership.
Cleopas said that even when he opted to pull out of the race, when the pressure of the contest became intense and even unbearable, Dickson was resolute and firm with his unwavering support.
He said the former governor and Governor Douye Diri gave him all the encouragement, direction and support he needed to succeed in the Senatorial contest.
He stated, “My master, my mentor, my leader, my principal, my father. Today is a great day to me. When I was declared on Sunday, it was like a dream and I asked, is this real? Is this how people become senator? I am still in the dream land.
“You have shown me love, you have shown me great leadership, you have done unimaginable things to me. It is only amazing that I will be declared a senator-elect. It was unbelievable but that dream is a reality today. I bless the day I come into contact with your great destiny.”
He said Dickson fought a lot of battles in the bid to actualise the strong desire of the PDP to retain the Bayelsa Central Senatorial seat, which became vacant following the emergence of Senator Douye Diri as governor.
Also speaking, Dickson who congratulated the people of Bayelsa Central, the state and the Ijaw nation on the outcome of the election, said that the PDP made the right choice in selecting Cleopas as senatorial candidate.
He assured Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation that Cleopas, whom he described as hard working, dedicated and loyal, would not fail them.
