Bandits again at the weekend struck in Taraba State, killing no fewer than 16 persons in different communities across the state.
The bandits were said to have invaded the communities in large numbers and abducted several persons.
Some of the communities the bandits invaded include Gidado and Garinkuka villages in Gunduma District of Mutum-Biyu Chiefdom in Gassol Local Government Area of the state.
A staff of the local government, who simply identified himself as Abdullahi Chul, said the bandits who stormed the communities in large numbers, entered the villages on motorbikes.
Chul said immediately the bandits invaded the communities, they began to fire sporadic gunshots, resulting in many residents sustaining gunshot injuries.
Recall that few weeks ago, the bandits blocked roads in the council, where a truck driver was killed and large number of travellers abducted.
Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, who confirmed the report, said there was an attack on the council.
The police spokesman said that the command was on top of the situation, as efforts to get at the bandits were in motion.
