Suspected bandits have abducted the wife and children of a lawmaker in Katsina, Dr Ibrahim Kurami.
Kurami is a lawmaker, representing Bakori Constituency in Katsina State House of Assembly.
According to the source, the criminals resolved to kidnap the wife and children of the lawmaker after realising he could not be found in his apartment at Bakori Local Government Area.
It was gathered that bandits had earlier shot the security guard in the house.
“On Saturday night, about 11 pm, many bandits entered our village, Kurami and threw people into commotion as they began to shoot their guns.
“The bandits entered the house of our lawmaker, Dr Ibrahim Kurami, to kidnap him but when they could not find him, they took his wife and two children instead. They also shot the security guard at the gate and he is in the hospital receiving treatment,” the source said.
Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah were not successful as he could not be reached on phone.
