Bandits Attack Katsina Hospital, Kidnap Five, Injure Doctor

Bandits attacked the General Hospital in Kankara, Katsina State, on Wednesday night, injuring a doctor and kidnapping five people, including hospital staff.

A local source disclosed that the assailants stormed the hospital around 7 p.m., firing shots that sent patients and staff into panic. Dr Murtala Dandashire, who was attending to patients, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and is receiving treatment.

Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, Sadiq Abubakar, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing.

In a related development, gunmen kidnapped five people in Odo-Eku community, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, during a Tuesday night raid.

Elder Ogundeji, the Odofin of Odo-Eku, said the victims, all Hausa farmers, included a woman, her daughter, a visiting woman, and two men. “The gunmen stormed their homes overnight and abducted them,” he explained.

Vigilantes, hunters, and security personnel have been deployed to nearby forests in a rescue operation.
