Omoyele Sowore, the renowned activist and politician, has sharply criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following the latter’s announcement of his son’s graduation from a UK university.
On the 7th of January, 2025, Wike proudly shared on his official Facebook page that his son, Jordan, had earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Queen Mary University of London.
This revelation has sparked a flurry of reactions from Nigerians, with many accusing politicians of undermining the country’s education system while sending their children abroad for their studies.
Sowore was quick to respond, taking to his official X handle to deliver a biting rebuke to the former Rivers State Governor.
He pointed out that despite serving as a local government chairman for two terms, Minister of Education for four years, and Governor of Rivers State for two terms—amounting to a total of eight years in public office Wike had failed to establish a school that could accommodate his son.
Sowore wrote, “He is currently the FCT Minister, yet he sends his children to schools in the UK after the destruction of education in Nigeria and with funds stolen from the masses.”
