Awoniyi Ends Goal Drought as Forest Secure 3-0 Win Over Wolves

Taiwo Awoniyi broke a 10-month goal drought in emphatic fashion, scoring a stoppage-time goal in Nottingham Forest’s dominant 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

Awoniyi, who was subbed on in the 88th minute, found the back of the net in the 90+4 minute to seal the comprehensive win.

His strike followed earlier goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood that had already put Forest in control of the match.

Forest took an early lead in the 7th minute when Morgan Gibbs-White converted a well-worked play against his former club.

Chris Wood doubled the advantage in the 44th minute, heading home a precise cross to give Forest a comfortable lead heading into halftime.

The final moments of the game saw Awoniyi add his name to the scoresheet, much to the delight of Forest fans who have awaited his return to form.

The Nigerian striker, who had not scored since March 2024, capitalized on a late counterattack to close the game in style.

The victory propels Nottingham Forest to third place on the Premier League table, level on points with second-placed Arsenal but trailing on goal difference.

It marks an impressive start to the campaign for Steve Cooper’s side, who continue to push for a strong finish this season.

Forest’s resurgence and Awoniyi’s return to scoring form are sure to boost confidence as they prepare for their next fixtures.
