Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians living abroad to remain optimistic and resilient despite the current socio-economic challenges in the country.
Speaking during a virtual interactive session with Nigerians in the diaspora on Saturday, Atiku emphasized the vital role they play in shaping the future of Nigeria.
“I urge you not to give up just yet. Your strength and resilience are crucial to Nigeria’s future,” Atiku said, acknowledging the hardships faced by millions of Nigerians due to the worsening economic conditions.
He noted that the poverty index continues to rise, but urged Nigerians to hold on to hope.
“As Nigerians living abroad, you have a unique perspective on what good governance and economic management look like. I encourage you to continue to pray for Nigeria’s deliverance,” he added.
Atiku expressed his belief in the potential of the country and emphasized that, with collective efforts, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and achieve prosperity.
In his address, Atiku also urged Nigerians in the diaspora to continue supporting their families and friends back home during these trying times.
The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) further called on the Federal Government to release detained protesters who have been charged with treason.
He underscored that the right to protest is a constitutional right and must be protected.
“The right of any citizen to protest government policies is enshrined in the constitution and cannot be denied,” Atiku stressed.
He encouraged continued engagement and peaceful advocacy for a better Nigeria.
