Atiku, Obi Condemn Killing of Soldiers in Delta

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi have voiced strong condemnation over the recent killing of military personnel in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident, which claimed the lives of a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, twelve soldiers, and a civilian, has elicited widespread outrage and demands for justice.

Atiku Abubakar took to social media to express his dismay, labeling the attack as unjustifiable and calling for the swift apprehension and prosecution of those responsible. He also emphasized the importance of restraint from the military authorities in their response to the tragic event.

Echoing similar sentiments, Peter Obi, the LP’s presidential candidate in the last election, denounced the barbaric nature of the incident as “totally unacceptable.” He highlighted the sacrifices made by security operatives and underscored the need for society to appreciate and support their efforts.

Obi further urged the government and security agencies to spare no effort in investigating, apprehending, and prosecuting the perpetrators of the heinous act. Additionally, he extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen security personnel and advocated for comprehensive compensation and welfare packages for their bereaved families.

Despite the sorrowful loss, both Atiku and Obi urged security personnel not to waver in their commitment to safeguarding the nation’s peace and security. They emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in addressing the prevailing challenges of insecurity across the country.
