On Thursday morning, gunmen broke into Lee Maeba’s home in Rivers State, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council.
During the attack by the thugs, about five cars inside the residence were vandalised.
Maeba, an ally of PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, confirmed the attack to newsmen.
The PDP presidential campaign chairman said his neighbors had noticed odd movements near his home when he arrived in Port Harcourt on Thursday morning.
He claimed that a young man had contacted to inform him of the impending attack. Maeba claimed that immediately after he left the house to visit his mother-in-law, his home was attacked.
“They shot at the gate and forced the gate open. They tied the gateman and shouted where is he? The next thing they did was shoot at the cars. What is my offence? Atiku does not leave here. I am a democrat and I don’t have any plan to harm anybody,” he said.
According to reports, three people were hurt during the attack on the former senator’s home who previously served as Rivers South East’s National Assembly representative.
At the time of publication, the police had not yet issued a statement regarding the assault.
