The national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to meet today, Thursday, in Abuja, following a series of strike notices issued to the Federal Government.
The meeting comes as tensions rise over the government’s failure to meet the union’s demands.
On September 24, ASUU issued a 14-day ultimatum to the government, threatening to shut down universities if its long-standing grievances were not addressed. This notice followed an earlier 21-day warning given on August 18, which also went unheeded.
At today’s meeting, ASUU is expected to deliver a “State of the Nation” address, addressing the current situation and its next course of action.
Uncertainty looms among students as fears of an imminent strike grow.
