IBUKUNOLUWA KING-OKUNEYE
Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a former media aide to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has labelled Muhammadu Buhari a ‘weak’ President.
He made this statement as the two-week ultimatum Buhari gave for resolution of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike has elapsed.
Yakasai in a post via his Twitter account said, “I’ve never seen a weak president like @MBuhari. He gives directives to his appointees and they ignore it without consequences.
“He gave 2 weeks ultimatum for ASUU strike to be resolved, nobody took him seriously & the time has elapsed. Shamefully embarrassing to say the least!”
Recall that President Buhari on July 19 directed the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu to resolve the prolonged strike and report back to him in two weeks’ time.
ASUU has been on strike since February 14, 2022, and recently extended the strike for another four weeks.
The strike followed the inability of the Federal Government to meet agreement with the academic union.
