The atmosphere around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court headquarters in Abuja is nothing short of electric this morning as former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, faces arraignment.
The courthouse has been transformed into a fortress, with heavy security operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) strategically positioned at every corner.
All access roads to the court are under tight surveillance, leaving no room for unauthorized entry. Inside the courtroom, the former governor, clad in an immaculate white Babanriga and exuding confidence with a broad smile, arrived to the rousing chants of “Saaki!” from his loyal supporters and political aides who thronged the premises in solidarity.
Bello had voluntarily turned himself in at the EFCC headquarters on the 26th November 2024, by a team of legal representatives, signaling his readiness to face the charges against him.
The court awaits the arrival of Justice Maryann Anenih to commence the much-anticipated proceedings.
