Arewa Youth Calls for Respect After Adeyanju’s Criticism of Wike

In a strongly worded statement, the Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence has denounced the recent attacks made by Deji Adeyanju against the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The group, representing a broad spectrum of young voices from Northern Nigeria, described Adeyanju’s comments as disrespectful and unbecoming of a lawyer, given the personal insults and baseless allegations aimed at Wike during a recent press conference.

Mark Okpanachi Ogah, the Chairman of the Abuja Chapter of Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence, emphasized that Adeyanju’s accusations, which included corruption and land-grabbing allegations, were not only unfounded but also tarnished the image of a public servant who has been recognized for his effective governance.

Ogah specifically highlighted the FCT Minister’s dedication to upholding the Abuja Master Plan and his commitment to urban renewal and land reclamation efforts, which have been a significant part of Wike’s policy agenda.

“These efforts are driven by a clear vision to create an equitable, organized, and lawful city.

Wike’s administration has reclaimed illegally occupied lands and provided alternative solutions for displaced citizens in a manner that aligns with the laws governing the Federal Capital Territory,” Ogah said.

The group also voiced concern over the tone and nature of Adeyanju’s remarks, which they believe undermine societal values of respect for authority, elders, and the rule of law.

The personal attacks, which included derogatory terms like “dirty people” and unfounded allegations of political interference, were deemed not only inaccurate but inflammatory.

The Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence further questioned the motives behind Adeyanju’s statements, suggesting that political influences and personal interests may have driven his criticisms.

“If there is any substance to these allegations, Adeyanju should present solid evidence,” Ogah stated. “Otherwise, it is high time for him to refrain from making divisive, unsupported claims.”

In a final call for unity, the group urged all Nigerians, particularly political figures, to engage in respectful and responsible dialogue.

They emphasized that public discourse should remain focused on the welfare of the people and avoid descending into unprovoked personal attacks.
