Apple Music Crowns Burna Boy as Nigeria’s Greatest Artist of All Time

Popular Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, fondly called Burna Boy, has been crowned the top Nigerian artist of all time on Apple Music.

In commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, the streaming platform released a list of the top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists and songs in its history.

Burna Boy claimed the number one spot, with Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake following closely behind. The rest of the top 10 featured Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Olamide.

The remix of Rema’s “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez secured the title of the most streamed Nigerian song of all time on Apple Music. It was followed by Burna Boy’s “Last Last” and Wizkid’s “Essence,” which features Tems.

Other tracks in the top 10 include Tems’ “Free Mind” at number four, Burna Boy’s “Ye” at number five, Dave and Burna Boy’s collaboration “Location,” Rema’s original version of “Calm Down,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Burna Boy’s “On The Low,” and “Come Closer” by Wizkid featuring Drake.

In addition, Apple Music celebrated Nigeria’s diverse music scene by spotlighting nine standout Afrobeats artists, each representing different regions: 2Baba (Jos), Omah Lay (Port Harcourt), Odumodublvck (Abuja), Shallipopi (Benin City), Seyi Vibez (Lagos), Jeriq (Enugu), Bloody Civilian (Abuja), and Qing Madi (Benin City).
