Representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday were absent as proceedings commenced in the case filed by Senator Ita Solomon Enang against the emergence of Mr Akanimo Udofia as governorship flagbearer of the party in Akwa Ibom State.
Ntufam Mba E. Ukweni SAN is the lead counsel to the plaintiff.
Achu Achu, Ndifreke Akpan, Peter Akpan and Treasure Odey also appeared as counsel for the plaintiff. A representative of INEC was in court.
It was observed that there was no counsel in court to represent APC which is the 2nd defendant in the matter.
Counsel to the plaintiff, however, told the hearing that the party was duly served.
According to the counsel to the plaintiff, the bailiff is having difficulties in serving the court summons to the 1st defendant.
The case was adjourned to June 28, 2022.
The plaintiff’s grouse as stated in his statement is that the primary exercise which produced Mr Udofia “was done in outright contravention of the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.”
The case which has FHC/UY/CS/114/2022 as the registration number is presided over by Justice A. A. Okeke.
