…as 14 aspirants now jostle for party’s ticket
Voting by delegates at the ongoing All Progressives Congress’ presidential primary election kicked off at past 2am Wednesday amid tight security.
The process currently going on at the Eagle Square, Abuja, is being monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and agents of the various aspirants.
Kebbi State Governor and Chairman, Electoral Committee, Atiku Bagudu, in his speech before the commencement of voting by the delegates, said 14 out of the 23 aspirants screened for the primary are in the race for the party’s presidential ticket.
Bagudu said nine others had withdrawn from the race, urging the 2,340 delegates to write the name of the aspirant they wish to vote for in full.
According to him, this is to avoid a mix-up as three of presidential aspirants have Ahmed as part of their names.
