President Bola Tinubu will depart Nigeria on Sunday to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, beginning Monday.
The summit will centre on the Middle East crisis, with Tinubu’s participation at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which will focus on the current situation in the Middle East,” presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced on Saturday.
Onanuga stated that President Tinubu would address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasising Nigeria’s call for “an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.”
During the summit, Tinubu is expected to advocate for renewed efforts toward “reviving the two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace in the region,” Onanuga added.
Accompanying Tinubu will be Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris, and NIA Director General Mohammed Mohammed.
“After the conclusion of the summit, President Tinubu will return to Abuja,” Onanuga confirmed.
