Immediate past governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and spokesperson for the ninth Senate, Senator Ajibola Basiru, were on Thursday officially ratified to replace the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and former National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore.
The ruling party took the decision about an hour after President Bola Tinubu arrived at the Transcorp Hilton, venue of the APC NEC meeting, on Thursday.
Tinubu arrived at the Congress Hall of the hotel amid tight security provided by stern-looking security operatives suspected to be officers of the Department of State Services at about 11.35am.
The announcement of the new party leadership almost disrupted the APC NEC meeting as the supporters of both Ganduje and Basiru went into wild jubilation.
Some of the dignitaries that arrived early for the NEC meeting included Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; former governor of Osun State and pioneer chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande; acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari; former governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and Spokesperson for the ninth Senate, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
