…for hobnobbing with PDP guber candidate, vowing to work against Gov Abiodun’s 2023 re-election bid
Ruling All Progressives Congress in Ogun State on Sunday suspended a serving lawmaker and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dare Kadiri, aka Maba, indefinitely, for alleged anti-party activities.
It was learnt that Kadiri was suspended indefinitely by the leadership of Ward 11 in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.
The lawmaker recently hosted the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, vowing not to work for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s re-election bid.
A report jointly signed by the General Secretary and Ward Councillor, Olarenwaju Abiodun and Sobonojo Adeniyi said the suspension was affirmed by the Ward Congress on Sunday.
The party leaders accused Maba of hobnobbing with the opposition and vowing to work against Governor Dapo Abiodun’s reelection.
“Conclusively, the nineteen out of the twenty seven Exco members unanimously agreed and voted for the indefinitely suspension of Hon. Oluwadare Kadiri (Maba) from ward 11 APC,” the report partly reads.
APC state Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, confirmed Maba’s suspension on Sunday.
“Yes (it is true). It’s a decision taken at the ward level,” Oladunjoye said.
But in a swift reaction, the suspended lawmaker dismissed the action, describing those behind it as jobless.
According to him, “They are a faction and I don’t even recognise their chairman. He was not even elected, I don’t know how he is now parading himself as my chairman. He is not the elected chairman. The case is still court, they are still trying to determine who the authentic chairman of the ward is. Can you build something on nothing? Nobody invited me, I don’t know my offense.
“They are jobless; the reason why I say this is that they are just looking for recognition because I don’t even know where they are coming from. I didn’t receive any letter to that effect, I’m just seeing it on the social media. I have not seen any official letter from them, maybe when I see an official letter from the party, I will know what to do. There are procedures everywhere, they should go and look for jobs.”
