Anti-Party Activities: Wike to Face PDP’s Disciplinary Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to address allegations of anti-party activities.

This development was announced by PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily” on Monday.

Abdullahi revealed that Wike has been called to appear before the PDP’s disciplinary committee, which is led by Chief Tom Ikimi.

He explained, “Three weeks ago, we put up two committees in place, that of reconciliation and disciplinary, and Nyesom Wike is one of the persons to face the disciplinary committee, which is headed by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi. The disciplinary committee will look into issues of anti-party activities.”

The PDP has been receiving petitions alleging that Wike and other party members engaged in activities that sabotaged the party during the primaries.

Abdullahi noted, “These petitions against Wike and other party members have been aggregated and sent to the committee. Some party members even felt that Wike shouldn’t have gotten to this level still as a member of the PDP and they have been writing to the leadership.”

Abdullahi also criticized Wike’s recent remarks about causing trouble in PDP-controlled states.

He said, “Wike should be able to manage his words carefully; that was a very disappointing remark. We weren’t expecting him to say that, and to be honest with you, we are not with him on that.”

The call for Wike’s appearance before the disciplinary committee comes shortly after Wike made headlines for expressing his contentment with his role in the Bola Tinubu administration.

During a PDP Congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike threatened to create political turmoil in the states of any PDP governor who interfered in party matters concerning Rivers State. He also dismissed critics of his position in Tinubu’s government with a provocative statement.

The PDP’s move to summon Wike underscores ongoing tensions within the party and highlights the broader issues of loyalty and internal discipline as the party navigates its current political landscape.
