Unknown persons have allegedly raped and killed a teenage student of the Federal College of Animal and Production Technology, Moore Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State, Barakat Bello.
18-year-old Bello, who was studying for her National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, was reportedly attacked on June 1, 2020.
Bello’s killing occurred few days after a 100 level student of the University of Benin, Uwa Omozuwa, was raped and killed in a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Edo State.
Barakat, it was learnt, was attacked and killed in her home in the Akinyele area of Ibadan. Her corpse was said to have been found around her house in the area.
Barakat’s father, Kasimu Elepo, said the incident occurred while he and the deceased’s sibling were away from the family home.
He said that Barakat’s sister, who was returning from Qur’anic school, found her blood-drenched body behind the house.
According to the deceased’s father, “I was not at home when the incident happened. The younger sister was not at home too, she went for Qur’anic lessons but when she returned home, she saw her at the back of the house with deep cuts all over her body. She had been raped and killed.
“Somebody called me on the telephone that I should come home but he refused to tell me what happened. When I got home, I saw that my daughter had been raped and stabbed to death.”
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, could not confirm the incident, saying the case had yet to be officially reported by the family or any other person.
