Two suspected motorcycle thieves, popularly known as okada, were caught and burnt to death at the popular 110 roundabout, MKO Abiola Way, Ring-Road, Ibadan Southwest Local Government Area of Oyo State.
FirstNews reliably gathered that the angry mob caught up with the suspected robbers at the Mile 110 end of the expressway, where they were set ablaze.
Our source informed further that the stolen motorcycles were recovered before jungle justice was carried out.
A resident of the area said, “We have been at the mercy of the thieves in this area for quite some time now. Though I am not really comfortable with jungle justice, I think it serves him right”.
Confirming the incident, the state police command said two hoodlums robbed an Okada rider of his TVS motorcycle at Olomi area of Ibadan and took to their heels.
According to the Police, luck eventually ran out on them and they were caught by other riders, who were on their trail at 110 roundabout area of Odo-Ona Ibadan. Police said, “They descended on them before the arrival of the Police and unleash mayhem on them. One ran away, while one other was beaten to stupor and set ablaze thereafter.
“This act of jungle justice which has been common lately was condemned in its totality among Okada riders and any other groups by the Commissioner of Police, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu and should be viewed with all seriousness, hence situation will degenerate beyond control.
“Suspect(s) are supposed to be handed over to the Police for investigation & prosecution to allow dignity in our society.”
