Patrick Aghamba, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, and his wife have been released from captivity, following their abduction on Friday while en route to the wedding of Charles Soludo’s daughter, the Governor of Anambra State.
The wedding, which was scheduled for Saturday in Abuja, faced a tragic turn when Kpajie Offia, an aide to the commissioner who was travelling with the couple, was reportedly killed during the attack.
Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, confirmed the release of the couple on Sunday, stating that their freedom was secured within 24 hours of the abduction.
“Within 24 hours, we were able to get them out of the hands of kidnappers,” Aburime told *lTheCable.
The incident underscores the rising insecurity and spate of abductions on the nation’s highways.
