Amunike’s Heartland Boosted by Win Over Abia Warriors

Former Super Eagles player and Heartland FC head coach, Emmanuel Amunike, is working hard to steer his team back on course after a challenging start to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Heartland has struggled to find form, suffering back-to-back defeats in their opening games, including 3-1 losses to Eyimba and Rivers United, and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Shooting Stars. A 0-0 draw with Katsina United only added to the frustration.

Despite these setbacks, Amunike’s side has shown resilience, amassing three wins, three draws, and four losses across their 10 matches so far.

This journey, however, took a promising turn over the weekend, with Heartland securing an inspiring 2-0 away victory against Abia Warriors, managed by Imama Amapakabo.

The much-needed win has lifted spirits within the squad, who are keen to capitalize on the momentum as they aim to improve their league standing.

Currently sitting 12th on the NPFL table with 12 points, Heartland remains hopeful of a turnaround.

Amunike is determined to build on Sunday’s result, instilling confidence in his players as they prepare for upcoming fixtures, striving for consistency and rhythm.

As the season unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if Amunike can rally Heartland FC to climb the league table and assert their presence in the NPFL.
