Chief Mbazulike Amechi, a significant figure in the Zikist Movement and Nigeria’s first Minister of Aviation, has passed away.
The family’s statement through Ezeana Tagbo Amaechi stated that the nonagenarian passed away in the early hours of November 1, 2022.
Amechi was a nationalist and one of the very few people still alive who belonged to the Zikist Movement, which was led by Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first ceremonial president of Nigeria.
The late elder statesman hailed from Amihe village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Amechi also served as a member of the Anambra Elders Forum, the highest ranking state advisory council, whose chairman is Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
