Mrs Kezia Uwak, the estranged wife of a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Robinson Uwak has berated her former spouse over the allegation of having extra-marital affairs with Hon Benjamin Kalu, House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Media and Public Affairs.

Kezia, who had two children for Uwak, said in a statement on Sunday that her former husband came up with the fake accusation in a bid to cover an accusation of domestic violence levelled against him.

She said Uwak, the former lawmaker who represented the Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Ure-Offong/Oruko and Udung-Uko Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State at the 7th Assembly, appeared to be on a mission to smear the character of Hon. Kalu by accusing him of having an extra-marital affair with her.

Uwak had recently maintained that he would not apologise to Kalu over the allegation of an amorous relationship with his wife, Mrs Keiza Uwak.

Kezia called on Uwak to stop distracting the general public with fake stories of infidelity as reports of numerous acts of domestic violence against her were before the law enforcement agencies and the court.

She advised Uwak to face the law enforcement agencies that were investigating the matter and desist from dragging the name of Hon. Benjamin Kalu into his misfortune.

Kezia said: “I still maintain that Hon Benjamin Kalu who is being accused by Hon Robinson Uwak is completely innocent of all the frivolous accusations of interference in our previous marital life. I advise Robinson Uwak not to use our failed marital life to settle political scores.”

Kezia stated that during her marriage to Uwak, she never had anything to do with any other man, not via communication, no physical meetings and absolutely nothing whatsoever with any other man.

Kezia noted: “I was a stay-at-home wife for Hon Robinson Uwak as he didn’t allow me to do any work but to always be indoors to take care of the house, which I did without hesitation.

“I got pregnant two months after our wedding with our twins and considering how taxing a twin pregnancy can be, I was practically at home throughout the period of the pregnancy.  After the successful delivery of the twins through Cesarean Section (operation), it took a while for me to recover from the surgery and was fully engaged with the task of taking care of our babies.

“During that period of body healing, I was deprived of sleep, always stressed and not eating well. Being my first childbearing experience with twins, my entire life was dedicated to the care and well-being of our new twin babies.

“With all those sacrifices of staying at home and nursing new babies, it was a huge embarrassment to be accused of cheating by Robinson, which was unimaginable.

“Due to Robinson’s physical violence and abuse, the house helps we employed to assist me then kept leaving the job, as they were always looking very uncomfortable and scared in the house which forced the babies and myself to live all alone during those formative periods, even as Robinson usually came back home to his new family within the early hours of each day without any form of assistance or support to me and the children. Even with his violent character, I equally managed to endure all the pains and sufferings just for the sake of the family and the love I had for our children.”

Kezia said in her efforts to build a happy family, she tried to do everything he asked of her until one morning that Robinson strangled her without any provocation, stressing that in order to save her life and that of their twins, she had to leave his house in search of safety somewhere.

She stated that the disgusting and unprintable claim that she was kept in a hotel by Benjamin Kalu whom she didn’t see within the past four (4) years or even spoken to in the last three (3) years was a wicked and fabricated lie.

She said instead of Robinson facing the charges she levelled against him, it was shocking how he was accusing Kalu of having an extramarital affair with her.

She added: “While he was abusing me in his house, I reported the matter to NAPTIP and at some point, NAPTIP rescued me and sent invitations to him for questioning but he declined and instead, Robinson harassed, intimidated and arrested me with SARS operatives at the Abuja airport while on my way to Calabar when I decided to go and stay with my beloved mother.

“While we were in Calabar, Robinson brutally invaded my mother’s residence and forcefully abducted our children which have left me with anger, pains, sorrow and anguish till today.

“By reading his new fake stories in the media, I began to wonder if Robinson Uwak is mentally stable as his allegations against me are constantly concocted lies which he still tells to assuage his guilt and failings as a husband, father and responsible member of the society. At some point, I was consoled by the fact that he is known for harassment, libel and intimidation of opponents and the weak.

“Considering the fact that our law enforcement agencies are very sophisticated in forensic investigations and with the matter already in court, I am very delighted that they will unravel the truth behind all his allegations against me; hence the outcome of the investigation will prove all the grievous lies Robinson peddles against me.

“For the embarrassment and disgrace that this matter has caused Hon. Benjamin Kalu and his family, I am deeply sorry and do reaffirm that I had no private relationship with Hon Kalu before, during and after my marriage with Robinson.

” I only worked for Hon Kalu during his electioneering as a media consultant, which terminated after the elections in February 2019 on a contract basis. I then got married to Robinson in June 2020, which was over one year and four months after I stopped working for Hon Benjamin Kalu.

“During the period I was having marital issues until I left Robinson, I did not have any communication with Hon Kalu or any member of his staff whatsoever.

“On the accusation of entering the National Assembly with the support of Kalu, It is a known fact that my mother has been a seasoned journalist in the past 34 years and in my quest for a platform to debunk some negative media propaganda against me by Robinson, she used her contacts in the industry to get me a platform at the National Assembly Press Corps, which gave me an opportunity to tell my story collectively to all the media houses.

” I wish to reiterate that Hon Benjamin Kalu did not aid me in accessing the media houses in the National Assembly and I will always appreciate the House of Reps Press Corp for the opportunity given to me to tell my own side of the story.

“Considering the fact that Robinson and I are in court, the reason for this release is for the world to know that Hon Benjamin Kalu, who is now his new target of assault is completely free from all the accusations levelled against him and I do once again sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the concocted lies of Robinson Uwak may have caused him, his lovely family and his numerous supporters.”
