President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which had all members of the Progressives Governors’ Forum represented, came ahead of the ruling party’s national convention to produce its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
Also at the meeting were the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
It was learnt that Issues discussed at the meeting centred on giving guidance on who should emerge as the flagbearer of the APC amid the screening of the party’s presidential aspirants by the committee led by a former Edo State governor and former APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
After the meeting, the APC governors refused to brief State House correspondents on the outcome of the meeting.
Meanwhile, the governors had before the meeting promised to go along with the choice of the President on the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate.
The APC Presidential Primary will be held between June 6 and 8.
