Just days after netting a brace in Galatasaray’s Europa League match on Thursday, Victor Osimhen continued his remarkable form on Sunday in the Turkish Süper Lig.
The Nigerian forward scored twice in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Samsunspor, marking another stellar performance as he paid tribute to his injured teammate Mauro Icardi.
Osimhen set the tone early, scoring just three minutes into the game with a powerful header. Following his goal, he held up Icardi’s jersey, mimicking the Argentine’s iconic celebration in an emotional tribute to his fellow striker, who is sidelined with an ACL injury for the remainder of the season.
Samsunspor fought back, equalizing in the 50th minute through Olivier Ntcham.
However, Osimhen restored Galatasaray’s lead just five minutes later, netting his second goal of the match in the 55th minute. Michy Batshuayi extended the lead to 3-1 in the 85th minute, ensuring Galatasaray’s advantage.
Although Yassine Ait Bennasser scored a late goal in stoppage time, bringing the final score to 3-2, Galatasaray held firm to secure the win.
Osimhen’s tribute to Icardi has further endeared him to fans, highlighting the camaraderie within Galatasaray’s squad.
This victory solidifies Galatasaray’s strong position in the league as Osimhen continues to deliver match-winning performances domestically and in Europe.
