When he leaves office on May 29, 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari has stated repeatedly that he will retire to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, to rest and stay as far away as possible from Abuja to avoid issues.
The President announced this on Sunday during a Christmas gathering with Federal Capital Territory inhabitants.
In addition, he extended gratitude to Nigerians for their support, confidence, and opportunity to govern.
The President used the occasion to reassure Nigerians that he would not hold office for a day longer than the allotted time.
He also reminded the delegation, which was led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Mohammed Bello, that while he was running for president, he took the time to visit all 774 local governments in the nation and received resounding public support.
He stated that he would be safe there in Daura despite technology.
