Bandits have finally released 90 students and staff of Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State, who were kidnapped some months ago.
The students and staff of the school had spent 118 days in the captivity of their abductors.
Their release was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Nafi’u Abubakar.
FirstNews also gathered that a father of one of the abducted students also confirmed the release of the students.
“Yes. They were released yesterday but are still with the authorities. They are expected to undergo some medical check-up before they are released to their parents,” he said.
On whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the students, he said “I am not going to speak on that. I hope the authorities are in the position to explain better”.
