Abia Governor Vows Overhaul of State Security After Attacks

In the wake of recent violent attacks on security personnel, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has declared a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s security framework.

Speaking on Saturday after an emergency security council meeting, Otti pledged to rid the state of criminal elements and restore safety for residents and visitors.

“We have critically reviewed the security framework of the state,” Otti announced.

“I am pleased to say that we have resolved to revamp it entirely, ensuring that these kinds of attacks become a thing of the past.”

Otti’s comments follow attacks in Ekenobizi, Ubakala, and Ohafia that claimed the lives of several security personnel.

Expressing condolences to the Nigerian Army and police, the governor assured the families of the fallen officers that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The governor also issued a stern warning to criminal elements in the state.

“If you are a criminal in Abia—whether a bandit, kidnapper, or otherwise—this state will no longer be safe for you,” he declared.

Reassuring residents, Otti emphasized the government’s commitment to securing lives and property.

“No one should live in fear,” he stated.

“We are taking decisive steps, alongside security agencies, to protect everyone living or visiting Abia.”

He also announced plans to personally visit the families of the deceased security personnel and reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for insecurity.

Abia State, under Otti’s leadership, is positioning itself as a beacon of safety and progress, determined to address security challenges and foster a stable environment for development and investment.
