About 23 persons on Tuesday were reportedly killed and several injured as bandits attacked two villages of Giwa Local Government area of Kaduna State.
The gunmen, according to a source, said they attacked the village on Tuesday night around 1:00 am.
The two affected villages raided by the gunmen included Anguwar Maiwa and Anguwar Kanwa.
An eyewitness confirmed the incident to FirstNews.
“As early as 5 pm on Monday, the gunmen were seen regrouping on motorbikes and security outfits were also noticed around.
“However, the bandits still proceeded to unleash their mayhem,” he said.
The eyewitness said 22 dead bodies had been discovered with the help of security operatives out of the 23 said to have been killed and subsequently buried.
He said the security operatives had also succeeded in neutralising some of the bandits and recovered some kidnapped victims.
“I cannot say how many were rescued, but I know some of them were rescued and bandits neutralised,” he stated.
This is the fourth attack in a row by bandits within a week in villages across the local government area.
The Kaduna State Police Command, Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalinge, was yet to be reached as of press time.
