Segun Ayinde, Abeokuta

Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, on Saturday, vowed to take over the reins of power from the ruling All Progressive Congress in the state come 2027.

This was coming just as the party conducted a peaceful congress with delegates trooping out en masse to vote for executive leader to steer the affairs of the party at the councils in the next three years.

This exercise was monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) amid tight security

Party’s stalwarts were seen coming out in large numbers in Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North LG as well as Obafemi Owode LGAs of the state to elect executives that would lead the party to victory both at the 2024 LG elections and 2027 polls in the state.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee of Local government Congress, Mr. John Tachio, divulged that the party, with the peaceful conduct at the congress was on the right track to take over the reins of power from APC in 2027.

Tachio, who implored the members of the party to remain united and worked together for the progress of the party, urged APC to start preparing their exit in 2027.

“As you can see this Congress is peaceful, if we maintain peace like this, things will continue to be better. Let’s work together so that we can win together”. he added

Earlier, Chairman of PDP Caretaker Committee, Mr. Dada Awoleye, said that the congress was violent-free and did not produce any factions.

Awoleye noted that the peaceful conduct of the Ward and LG congresses, showed that the party was ready to take over leadership from APC in 2027, while lauding party faithful for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner.

“The Congresses show we are ready to take over power, it is sign of good things to come. I thank you party faithful for peaceful conduct. I am not disappointed with what I have seen” he added
