Rapper Nicki Minaj has made headlines once again, seemingly taking aim at Jay-Z after Kendrick Lamar was named the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, a spot many believed should have gone to Lil Wayne, her former mentor.
It was recently confirmed by the National Football League, Apple Music, and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation that Lamar would lead the performance in New Orleans.
However, the decision has sparked controversy among fans, with some questioning Jay-Z’s role in the selection process, accusing him of overlooking Wayne.
Minaj joined the conversation with a series of posts on her X handle, where she appeared to vent her frustrations, hinting at personal grievances with Jay-Z.
She expressed disbelief that Lil Wayne, who she referred to as “the GOAT,” had been bypassed for the coveted spot.
She wrote, “Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego. Your hatred for Birdman, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?! Lil Wayne! The GOAT! Nola, what’s good?!”
“Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. Sht sad. House ngger timz. but it’s good fi dem! No loyalty? Welp. then n*ggaz will keep son’ing you!”
She, however, concluded her rant by reminding everyone of the immense impact Lil Wayne has had on the hip-hop scene, especially by helping launch the careers of herself and Drake.
