A former Abia State governor and current Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Orji Kalu, says he is yet to make up his mind whether to vie for President or not.
He, however, says that if opportunity is given to the South-East to produce the next president that he will think again to see if there is room for him to contest for the exalted office.
The Senate Chief Whip spoke during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday.
He spoke when the news agency sought his reaction on campaign posters bearing his image, sighted in some cities.
He said, “I want to continue to thank people who are putting up my posters all over Nigeria. I have not made up my mind whether to vie for president or not.
“But if opportunity is given to the South-East, I will think again to see if there is room because the party has not said where they are zoning the president to.”
Kaku’s comment on the 2023 presidency comes hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Bola Tinubu, declared his ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
