Eze Ndigbo of Ogun State, Willy Ejimkonye, has pledged that the Igbo in the state will cast their votes for Governor Dapo Abiodun in his bid for a second term in office during the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Ejimkonye also insisted that the Igbo community will only vote for candidates contesting on the platform of the All Progressive Congress for any elective office in the forthcoming election.
He disclosed this at the 16th New Yam Festival, tagged, “Iri Ji Ndi Igbo 2022,” held at Omotayo Event Centre, Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The Eze said that the Igbo in the state would vote for the governor since they live and do their businesses in all parts of the state with fair treatment from the incumbent administration.
He thanked God for the celebration of the 16th New Yam festival in the state, noting it was worth celebrating because they witnessed a fruitful yam harvest yielded for the year 2022.
The Eze said, “Once we are here in Ogun State, we will vote for the governor in the state. This is where we live and do our businesses. So, we Igbo here will vote for Governor Abiodun and any APC candidate in 2023 general elections.
“The New Yam Festival is an annual occasion of offering and celebrating immense thanks to God for making the yam yield possible and even offering for a better harvest in the future.”
Earlier, Governor Abiodun, who was represented his Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said that the current government would do every thing possible to protect the lives and properties of Igbo in the state.
He appealed to them to vote him as the governor for another four years in office and other candidates of APC in the state in the 2023 elections, hinting that he and the party’s candidates would not fail them.
