The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has unveiled Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate,
The LP VP, who is the founder of Baze University, Abuja, was unveiled as the LP vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election in Abuja on Friday.
Baba-Ahmed, 46, was a former lawmaker for Kaduna North Senatorial district.
The announcement came barely 24 hours after the Director-General, Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe, said he had withdrawn as the vice-presidential candidate of the LP.
Announcing his withdrawal on Thursday through his verified Twitter handle, @doyinokupe, Okupe said, “This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC. A replacement will be announced by d national chairman of d party shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success 4 the LP.”
The LP had named Okupe as its interim VP in order to beat the deadline by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the submission of names of presidential candidates by political parties.
