Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose has described presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as the most popular of all the presidential candidates.
He, however, said that popularity alone would not win the 2023 presidential election for Obi, saying that the LP candidate needs N50 billion to be able to defeat the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
According to him, what Tinubu has over Obi is structure and goodwill, but with N50 billion Obi would be able to build a structure that would help him emerge as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
He said if Obi cannot get the N50 billion he would only take major votes the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, usually gets from the South.
Fayose, who spoke in a video on social media said, “Out of all the candidates, Obi is the most popular. If we vote today on social media and other stuff, he will win by 70 per cent. But elections are structure based, so, Obi will need N50 billion to be able to make that movement a reality.
“With N50 billion, yes, Obi will win. Remember Tinubu is a little bit popular too but not just a major movement. But he has structure and his structure alone is worth N50 billion. He has what they call goodwill, they call him the City Boy. So, where his money will not reach, his structure will reach and where his structure cannot reach his popularity will reach.
“Obi, with N50 billion, will be able to buy his own army that will now make him defeat Tinubu. As it is, Obi will only successfully reduce the six million votes Atiku normally gets from the South by taking about four million votes out of it. But without N50 billion, Obi can’t win.”
