A group of traditional rulers in Ogun State, on Thursday, endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun’s second term bid.
The royal fathers under the aegis of Progressive Royal Fathers of Ogun Central, said their support for Governor Abiodun’s second term bid was based on “his sterling and creditable performance in office.”
According to them, one good term deserves another.
Spokesperson of the Progressive Royal Fathers and Olu of Itori, Oba Abdufattai Akamo, while addressing a press conference at the end of the monarchs’ meeting in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, stated that 72 monarchs in the state, at the end of their meeting with Governor Abiodun on Wednesday, unanimously decided to throw their weight behind voiced his continuity in office from 2023.
Oba Akamo said, “We thank God for our governor who God has been using to turn around the state, despite the pandemic and its effect on the economy. The governor has done tremendously well in the state and we are proud of him.
“We throw our weight behind him; we will do all necessary things to make his coming back in 2023 easy. Our mantra in the Progressive Royal Father’s forum is eight years for Governor Dapo Abiodun, and we are giving a 100 per cent support.”
The Royal Fathers, who noted that the state under the leadership of the incumbent governor had witnessed tremendous development, commended the huge investment in the Agro Cargo Airport, which they described as a thought-out project during the governor’s first term.
The Obas who further expressed the forum’s delight at the development going on in other sectors of the state, acknowledged the governor’s doggedness in handling its economy after the side effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They appealed to the governor not to relent in the infrastructural development of the state, stressing that he had achieved a lot for Ogun State.
