National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, says it will be humiliating for President Muhammadu Buhari to hand over power to an opposition party in 2023.
Adamu states this while speaking on a BBC Hausa interview programme.
Adamu stressed that more than any other political party, Buhari would want the ruling APC to win and retain power in 2023.
The APC national chairman dismissed allegations that Buhari was withdrawing from campaigning for the party’s presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying it would be improper for Buhari to leave his job as president because of the electioneering campaigns.
“Anyone who tells you that he wants (APC to) win this election more than Buhari is lying. My reason is that it is a shame for the president to hand over power to a political party that is not his,” Adamu said.
