The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a 2023 presidential aspirant, on Monday said he is not one of the aspirants who make fake promises.
He also said that he is in the race to become the next president of Nigeria to change the county for good, assuring that Nigerians will not regret voting for him.
He spoke on Monday when he visited Katsina State to meet with Governor Aminu Masari, the state’s party executives, and delegates to the APC’s congress, to solicit their support for him to emerge as the ruling party’s candidate in the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu told them that if he emerges as the APC’s presidential candidate and eventually wins the presidential election, he would tackle banditry and other crimes, as well as improve electricity generation and supply, ensure the education of all children irrespective of family background.
He also said he would ensure improvement in infrastructural development, and support agriculture, industrialisation, and move education forward in the country and make sure incessant strikes by university workers become a thing of the past.
Tinubu said, “Anybody can run. Not everybody can be a leader. There are candidates and there are aspirants. I am a candidate. Whichever way, Nigeria is our nation. God bless this country.
“I am here to meet you, my brothers and sisters, to beg and secure your support for the primaries. We have to stage primaries before one becomes the candidate. You are very important to me for that. I come to unite Nigeria and not to divide Nigeria.
“Anybody can run for the presidency but not everybody can be the President. I am extremely different from other candidates who promise fake agenda. If I become the president, I will take care of all the abandoned projects for the economic development of the country.
“I am contesting to change the country for good and I say you will never regret giving me your support.”
Speaking, Masari lamented that most of the problems facing the country were man-made and could be addressed.
Lauding Tinubu for growing Lagos state’s economy and reducing the crime rate in the state, Masari said he believed that the APC leader should be given the chance to lead Nigeria, especially for his wealth of experience in leadership and managerial skill.
