AMINA ANEBI, KADUNA
A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Isa Ashiru, has been declared the winner of the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial primaries in Kaduna.
Ashiru defeated his opponents with wide margin of 115 votes to top the list.
Sani Sidi, who was his closest rival, polled 260 votes to mantain the second position, while former governor Ramalan Yero scored 28 votes.
Other aspirants in the primaries include: Sani Abbas, Haruna Saheed Kajuru and Senator Shehu Sani. The trio scored 15, 11 and 2 votes, respectively.
Kaduna State Chairman of the PDP, Hon Hassan Hyet, earlier in an interview with newsmen, said,. “We want to be very thorough, we don’t want anybody to have reason for any complaint. The accreditation is taking place in different venues after which the delegates are conveyed here to vote.”
788 delegates who participated in the election process were drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state.
