The theme for this year’s celebration is “Make Mental Health and Well-being For All A Global Priority.”
He said all Nigerians must therefore focus on improving their mental health wellness and raising awareness on mental health as well as encourage individuals to reach out for help, whenever necessary.
Fagbohunka also urged Nigerians to take seriously mental health tips to ensure a better 2022 with regard to issues surrounding mental health, wellness and well-being.
He added that to achieve an improvement in mental health, Nigerians must practise forgiveness amongst themselves.
The Katamaran Deck Capoon further advised Nigerians having mental health issues to ask for help rather than keeping to themselves and worsening their situations.
Fagbohunka added, “For your mental well-being, it’s advisable you connect with other people around you. This is very important.
“Also, be physically active. This is not only good for your physical health and fitness, but also for your mental well-being.
“It’s also very important we learn new skills to keep us mentally fit at all times. We should also learn to give to others. This is also good for our mental wellness.
“We should also strive to pay attention, be mindful to the present moment. This greatly helps to keep us mentally alert and fit.”
October 10th is World Mental Health Day. This international day of awareness and action has been recognized since 1992, as mental health activists and practitioners across the world work to spread the word that mental health is something everyone should care about. In some countries, this day is part of a week-long mental health event.
The day was initially created by the World Federation of Mental Health, a 70+-year-old organization that supports mental health awareness and support in more than 90 countries.
With events, screenings, activities, and more, World Mental Health Day is a catalyst for us to learn more, seek help, offer support, and open our hearts and minds to vulnerable conversations.
The Katamaran Deck Capoon also stressed the need for all Nigerians to join hands to offer help to people who are vulnerable regarding mental health.
