…as another moves over to APC
Ten members of the Kano State House of Assembly, on Friday, defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the party recently formed by a former governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso alongside other politicians across the country.
One other member of the Assembly, Salisu Maje Ahmed Gwangwazo, representing Kano Municipal, however, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The 10 lawmakers have already sent their respective letters of defection to the Speaker.
According to the Assembly’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Uba Abdullahi, the letters of defection of the lawmakers had been officially received in the House on Friday by the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.
The lawmakers, who defected include Isyaku Ali Danja Member representing Gezawa Constituency; Umar Musa Gama, Member representing Nassarawa Constituency; Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, representing Ungogo Constituency; Lawan Hussain Chediyar ‘Yan Gurasa, representing Dala Constituency; and Tukur Muhd, representing Fagge Constituency.
Others include Mu’azzam El-Yakub, representing Dawakin Kudu Constituency; Garba Shehu Fammar, representing Kubiya Constituency; Abubakar Uba Galadima, representing Bebeji Constituency, Mudassir Ibrahim Zawaciki, representing Kumbotso Constituency and member representing Gwale Constituency, Yusuf Babangida Suleiman.
The lawmaker, who defected from PDP to APC, Gwangazo in a letter he addressed to the Speaker said his defection to the ruling party was due to the division in the leadership of the PDP at state and national levels.
The Speaker congratulated the lawmaker for joining the APC, assuring him that the party would carry him and his people along on all matters related to the party.
