Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been provisionally suspended from football after testing positive during a routine doping test.
The club confirmed that the Football Association (FA) recently contacted Mudryk following an βadverse findingβ in a standard urine test.
In an official statement, Chelsea expressed their stance on the situation, saying:
βBoth the Club and Mykhailo fully support the FAβs testing programme, and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested.β
Mudryk, who has categorically denied knowingly using any banned substances, now faces further investigation alongside the club.
The statement continued: βMykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances.β
Chelsea also reiterated their commitment to working with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of the positive result: βBoth Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding.β
The 23-year-old Ukrainian international joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a significant transfer fee.
This development comes as a major blow for both the player and the club, with Mudryk having been a key figure in Chelsea’s ongoing campaign.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
