Across continents, Yoruba communities under the umbrella of the Yoruba Nation have publicly aligned with the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, throwing their weight behind his leadership and vision.
They consider him a vital force in Africa’s pursuit of real freedom and control over its future.
The announcement came through a joint statement signed by the group’s Chairman, Chief Omodunni Ayorinde, and its Secretary, Mr. Banjo Adewale. They described Traoré as a “symbol of resistance, unity, and anti-imperialism,” adding that his leadership style signals a bold shift toward governance that puts people first.
“We have observed the developments in Burkina Faso under Captain Traoré and are offering him our full support for his unwavering commitment to African dignity and sovereignty,” the statement read.

They called on African leaders to stop prioritizing external approval and personal benefits. Instead, they challenged them to redirect their focus toward Africa’s growth and shared goals. “Africa needs more visionary leaders like Ibrahim Traoré who put the well-being of their people and the future of the continent first,” they stated.
The group applauded Traoré’s major policy actions like the Faso Mebo program, massive road network projects, and his aggressive drive toward food security and industrial development. They see these as practical examples of what it means to pursue lasting independence.
“In an era of shrinking international aid and rising global instability, African nations must learn to harness their own resources effectively. Captain Traoré’s approach is a reminder that with determination and good governance, transformation is possible,” the statement noted.
They urged other African governments to take a cue from Burkina Faso’s focus on sovereignty, physical development, and the empowerment of citizens stressing that these choices lay the foundation for true progress.
