We’ll Resist FG’s Intimidation — PDP Govs

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have accused the Federal Government of using intimidation and exclusion to weaken the opposition, pledging to stand firm in their commitment to good governance.

They made the accusation on Tuesday, May 27, during the PDP’s 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, described the situation as troubling but reaffirmed the party’s resilience.

“We are experiencing defections and discussions around coalitions, which have affected even some of our members,” Mohammed said. “But the PDP remains united and committed to its mandate.”

He noted that the party has continued to stay engaged with the public, citing recent governors’ meetings in Plateau, Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bauchi as part of efforts to address pressing governance issues.

Also speaking, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Iliya Umar Damagum, assured party members that despite both internal and external challenges, the party’s internal structure remains strong.

“We believe our internal mechanisms are solid enough to resolve our issues,” Damagum said, adding that “three or four additional NEC meetings” would be held before the party’s national convention to address pending concerns.

Both leaders called for unity and collaboration to steer the PDP through its current difficulties and reaffirm its role as a viable opposition party.
